Summer Kimono. Early Showa Period (1927-1940), Japan. The Kimono Gallery. A sheer “ro” (gauze) “hitoe” (unlined) silk kimono featuring joined-swastika and waterwheel motifs. The waterwheels were all hand-created by inserting silver-metallic threads manually - astonishing is that this insert work cannot be seen on the backside of the cloth.
